I'm a portrait photographer based in Cardiff, South Wales, offering family photography and dog photography in the studio in Cardiff North, on location or even at your own home. (Videos about each can be found below).
I've also been an actor for over 25 years working mostly within the tv and film industry in Wales, and my experience as an actor gives me a unique insight into what it feels like to be in front of the camera. My photoshoots are always calm and relaxed to make sure that people are comfortable so that I get the best out of everyone.
I love photographing children and families and I always try to get a balance between posed group and individual photographs, and ones where children are free to do what they want so that I capture them in a natural way.
The studio is a purpose-built loft conversion in an Edwardian house in the Rhiwbina area of Cardiff with parking available outside. It's a lovely space and ideal for photographing children and families as it isn't overwhelming or intimidating.
At the end of your photoshoot we'll arrange a date for your viewing session, where you'll return to the studio for the big reveal of your portraits! This is a very exciting opportunity for you to see your photographs projected at large format, and it's now that you can decide which ones you'd like to purchase for your walls or album.
There is no compromise on quality when it comes to displaying your portraits. Your photographs will be printed on beautifully textured fine art paper with a guaranteed longevity of over a hundred years.
And should you wish to have your photographs framed these will be handmade by local craftsmen from solid wood and protected by premium SuperClear glass, ready to hang on your walls with brackets and strong cord.
An album is a wonderful way to tell your family's story. The albums that I offer are handmade in the UK and are heirloom quality, featuring fine art paper and lay-flat binding. Perfect to hand down to future generations.
If you would like to purchase digital copies of your photographs, they will be presented to you on one of these beautiful hand-crafted walnut USB drives and matching box.
ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY
Being environmentally-aware is incredibly important to me, and I take the following steps to ensure that I do the best that I can to produce art that is as sustainable as possible:
My work is printed on Hahnemuhle fine art paper – a premium paper manufacturer. Hahnemuhle support several ethical projects around the world, ensure that none of the waste water produced in the paper-making process contains pollutants, and the fibers for their papers come from deciduous and coniferous species of trees, with a focus on sustainable forest management. All of the electricity needed for producing their paper comes from renewable sources.
My album manufacturers are UK-based; are powered 100% from renewable sources; all of the materials they use to produce their albums are from sustainable sources and 95% of their waste is recycled. The luxurious vegan-friendly alternative to leather that is used for the albums’ covers contains no PVC, BPA or solvents and conforms to strict EU standards.
The framers who hand-make the custom frames that I offer are based in Cardiff to keep the carbon footprint of logistics small, and the frames are manufactured from solid wood and glass, rather than mdf and plastic.
My approach to using renewable materials also extends to how I hand over the digital files from your portrait session: they will be presented to you on a beautiful hand-crafted walnut USB drive and matching walnut keepsake box.
If you have any questions about the portraits and products that I offer please feel free to get in touch.
